Jī-lia̍t (Eng-gí: string) sī tiān-náu bûn-jī cho͘-sêng ê chu-liāu, ia̍h tio̍h sī lâng-ê giân-gí lāi-bīn tan-gí ia̍h bûn-kù téng sêng-hun tī tiān-náu thêng-sek lāi ê piáu-ta̍t hong-sek. Ū-ê thêng-sek giân-gí (chhiūⁿ BASIC) tùi bûn-jī-lia̍t ê chhù-lí hong-hoat, sī kā kò-pia̍t bûn-jī pian-bé khǹg tī mé-mo-lih; ia̍h ū-ê (chhiūⁿ C) sī siu chò bûn-jī (char lūi-hêng) ê tīn-lia̍t.
