Khe-chiap-pu sī chi̍t-khóan ùn-chiap ia̍h tiâu-bī-liāu, it-poaⁿ sī iōng kam-á-bi̍t lâi chè-chō. Hiān-tāi ê khe-chiap-pu gôan-liāu ū lông-siok ê kam-á-bi̍t, chhò͘, thn̂g, iâm téng-téng, ū chin-chē bô-kāng-khóan ê kháu-bī.

Tâi-oân-oē "khe-chiap-pu" chi̍t-ê bêng-sû, sī ùi Ji̍t-pún-oē ê "kechappu" (ケチャップ; kunrei-siki: ketyappu) thôan-kòe; Ji̍t-pún-oē ê "kechappu", sī ùi Eng-gí ê "ketchup" (ia̍h "catchup") chioh-iōng lâi.

Eng-gí chham Hô-lân-gí lāi-bīn "ketchup" ê gí-gôan, khó-lêng sī ùi Malai-gí ê "kechap" (ia̍h "kichoop") thôan-kòe, Malai-gí ê "kechap", khó-lêng koh-sī ùi Bân-lâm-gí ê "kê-chiap" (鮭汁) thôan-kòe.
