Hiân-bú-giâm (basalt) sī 1 chióng hoé-soaⁿ-giâm (volcanic rock), toā-hūn o͘ o͘ ia̍h niáu-chhí-á-sek. Hoé-ko tī tē-piáu chin kín léng--lo̍h-lâi tō ē chō-chiâⁿ hiân-bú-giâm. Hiân-bú-giâm ū SiO2 45~52%. Kiat-chiⁿ khah toā lia̍p ê hiân-bú-giâm sǹg 1 chióng pan-giâm (porphyritic) ê kiat-kò͘. Hiâm-bú-giâm pún-sin sī o͘--ê, i ê khòng-bu̍t sêng-hūn tāi-thé sī chhiâ-tn̂g-chio̍h (plagioclase) ham hui-chio̍h (pyroxene), mā ū chió chió ê kan-ná-chio̍h (olivine); chiah-ê khòng-bu̍t hō͘ hiâm-bú-giâm ū bô kâng ê te̍k-sek.
